Zinc is most commonly used in the galvanized steel industry for its resistance to corrosion.  It is also notably used in the automobile industry as die castings.  For die casted zinc, the product is more popularly known as zinc die casting.<br \/>\nDie casting is one of the forming processes of metals.  In this process, the metal is melted at its melting point, and is then poured out into molds or \u201ccasts\u201d under a certain pressure. It is allowed to solidify under the same conditions.    The melting point varies for most metals, and it has to be carefully noted as some other metals become brittle beyond certain temperatures.  The desired shape is achieved by using metal dies, which are clamped together after the molten metal is poured on it.  As the metal slowly cools and solidifies, the dies are opened, and the molded shape is ejected.<br \/>\nOne of the advantages of zinc die casting is that, one set of dies can be used for hundreds, and even thousands of casting process.  Aside from this, because the process is sort of mechanical, it can actually be done at a faster rate, depending on the capacity of the machine, thus making this process inexpensive for mass production.
